Joe and Troy is no more unless ESPN is able to pry Joe away from Fox in his lame duck year. This would mean no more NLCS or World Series for Joe Buck. This deal is creating a huge upheaval in ESPN MNF crew. Say goodbye to Brian Griese, Louis Riddick and probably Steve Levy. It is highly unlikely that ESPN would pair Steve Levy with Troy Aikman. What would be the point of paying this kind of money. They need a big name play by play guy. If they can't land Joe Buck the next candidate would be Al Michaels. Al is being lured by Amazon for their Thursday night package. Al is 77. Will he want to stay in the booth till he is 82. Fox's new number one crew will be Kevin Burkhardt and Greg Olson. I'm surprised Fox didn't fight to keep Troy. He wanted to be paid Tony Romo money. He was entitled to it. Aikman has been around a lot longer than Tony Romo.

I heard earlier that Aikman will make more as a broadcaster than a football player.

weird thing is that unless I have any interest in the game, I’ll be watching manning cast

That's true. Salaries in the nineties weren't as high as they are now. If Troy played today he would earn $35 million a season. I know they never can get him to leave but Manning would be perfect with Joe Buck if he stayed with Fox. Even though they signed Peyton for another season why would they want to continue with Manning Cast. They are paying Aikman an awful lot of money to cannibalize the main telecast on ESPN. I liked the Manning Cast but that's because Levy, Griese and Riddick were not enough to compel me to watch the ESPN feed. You think Troy will be happy with his network running a competing feed. He left because of the money but he has some pride. He is going to tell ESPN to promote his telecast. He doesn't want Peyton and Eli funneling away his viewers. Manning is real loyal to ESPN. They let him do Peyton's Places on ESPN Plus. Every network has been begging him for years to do an analyst role. He really enjoys the laid back broadcast with his brother. But he is so good he would be an absolute natural breaking down plays with a partner. Peyton's talents are wasted on the Manning Cast. Fox can offer him some development deals in addition to partnering on the game of the week.
